Our bodies are often referred to as works of art. (Or maybe that’s just my evangelical upbringing.) And in many ways they are! Our many shapes, colors, textures; genetics flowing and re-forming into combinations both new and familiar.

The thing about art, though, is that it’s up for interpretation. And while we are still researching new ways to re-interpret the art of our bodies, what if there were someone that took things more literally?

Also new on the website is a story list! It’s still pretty barebones, but now there’s somewhere to go if you want to read a particular series in order. Definitely not driven by the comments I’ve gotten on other sites asking if there was more to a particular story. 😅 Also, while I’ve done my best to put stories in chronological order, I reserve the right to make corrections later.

(And yes, eagle-eyed readers may notice that the image on the blog/email is not the same as the cover image. Mostly because I can control the cropping on the cover image better and you’re less likely to get a face full of… well, you know.)

Reading RGB

Hi, friend! Chances are you’re reading this because you read my story RGB or its mid-sequel RGBa. That story—and Red, Green, and Blue—are really special to me, and it means a lot that they’ve resonated with so many people. So, from the bottom of my little foxy heart, thank you.

For about the last year, I’ve been adding to the story piece-by-piece in my monthly publication Nowhereverse Tales, which you can read on this website! There’s some standalone stories and some that tie into each other; some new and some that you might have seen on other websites. Each issue has another scene or two with Red, Green, and Blue.

But, if you don’t want to re-read things, here’s what you need to know and where you can pick up the story:

If you read RGB

Red and Green’s assigned genders at birth are not canonically disclosed.
Everything in the Waffle House scene and beyond is no longer canon. Our trio has more to do before they can be together.

The last story from RGB is “The Breakdown.” You can pick up the story with “A Few Dates,” found in Tales #12.

If you read RGBa

The scene breaking the news to Blue’s parents isn’t canon (yet).
The final scene where the trio has their vision ends with a more complete dedication:

Where there is pain, Red says, we bring healing.

Where there is captivity, Green says, we bring freedom.

Where there is despair, you say, we bring hope.

Together, we bring light.

The last story from RGBa is “The Dedication.” You can pick up the story with “A Bad Night,” found in Tales #14

You can also see the individual stories in chronological (not publication) order on the stories page, along with other storylines seen in Nowhereverse Tales. The “Celeste” and “The Lighthouse Crew” storylines are the most relevant, at least for now.

Again, it means so much to me that people have read and resonate with this story, or with anything I’ve written. I hope, in all this, that we can feel a little less alone.

Nowhereverse Tales, Issue 24

People can change. I think that’s been made pretty obvious here, actually! Between having to navigate new bodies and new worlds, change is constant. It happens, and we adapt.

Sometimes the question isn’t whether we can change. It’s whether we even want to.

I’m proud of how I’ve been able to publish something once a month consistently for over a year and a half. This month is probably the closest I’ve come to missing that. Maybe I can take some time this month and build a buffer back up…

Nowhereverse Tales, Issue 23

And sometimes our dreams about furries in space continue unabated. Wait… no, that’s just Jasper. Let’s see how he’s doing…

I’m so excited to announce that the full Nowhereverse website is now live! Every issue is now readable in a fully-responsive dark-mode-enabled webpage with a sane permalink! My old web heart is so happy now.

It’s also June, which is Pride Month (at least here in the USA). So to everyone out there, here’s a reminder that you’re not alone. And let’s take a moment to celebrate what makes us unique, the many voices that take us in unexpected directions.

Nowhereverse.com is now live

If you’re reading this, thanks! This is the new Nowhereverse.com, a home on the open web for Nowhereverse Tales and anything else that happens in this crazy multiverse.

Right now, the biggest thing is having a responsive HTML version for all the issues! The HTML design made its debut back in January, but now it’s been brought to all the issues so far. (And I no longer have to save and edit the page by hand every time I publish!) The PDFs will remain, including the printable ones.

On a technical level, the site is built with Astro and uses Tinylytics for stats. Tinylytics is an independent, privacy-friendly stat service that I’ve been using on the site since the temporary version was launched over a year ago. There’s more details about privacy in their documentation, and if you have any concerns feel free to ping me on socials or email.

I’m hoping to bring some other fun things to the website in the near-to-mid future, but my first priority was getting this done. Losing the Gumroad was an unexpected hardship, and I’m really thankful for everyone that’s stuck around since.

Seriously, I can’t thank y’all enough for reading. Nowhereverse Tales has been going for over a year and a half now, which I think might be the longest I’ve continuously and regularly updated a project of mine. There’s still a lot more stories to tell, and I hope to be telling them for a while.

Nowhereverse Tales, Issue 22

We are who we are, retroactive cosmic interventions included. We’re reactions and impulses and desires oscillating between vice and virtue day by day—sometimes minute-by-minute! And we’re constantly evolving, small changes adding up to larger ones.

And then sometimes there’s a big change all at once. It’s me, hi.

In case it hasn’t been obvious, I’m a programmer. Which means I have a tendency to, for various reasons, build things that already exist because I’ve decided that the thing that exists doesn’t fit. I’m trying to be better about that.

All that to say, I’m trying out a new tool, and as a result I’m making excellent progress on the Nowhereverse website. I still know better than to promise a date, though.

Nowhereverse Tales, Issue 21

It’s one thing to say that you’ve changed. To say that you’re on a new path, turned over a new leaf. To want to be someone new, not the person you’ve been.

It’s another thing entirely to do it. To prove with your actions. And when the only actions you can see are your own thoughts, it can be hard to know that you’re changing.

When we last saw Celeste, she was finding a new purpose after having her previous worldview completely shattered. Now, she’s on her way to find Eutychia, one-third of a trio of beings mentally connected across worlds and desperate, after over ten years of knowing each other, to be together…

Nowhereverse Tales, Issue 19

It’s amazing the kind of life-changing experiences we can have. Where a moment passes, and we come out the other side with a new perspective. And we discover things about ourselves we may have never known—or maybe we’ve always known but couldn’t admit.

These moments matter so much. But what matters almost as much is how the people we love react. How do the changes to ourselves change our relationships?

Nowhereverse Tales, Issue 18

A multiverse where nothing is impossible because there’s always a world where it is possible. Full of, as the show says, strange new worlds.

I’ve always been drawn to transformation, both for the act itself and for the existence afterwards. What is it like to be something else? To have different limbs, different senses, different perceptions.

And in all of this change, what about us stays the same?

Half as many pages, but they’re twice as big!
Dropping “Series Zero” since I’m not really breaking this into series.
A new responsive HTML version with light/dark mode support (uses your device/browser settings).

I’m still working on the website, but this is a huge step towards it.
